Maggie Brown
Founding Scientist & Co-founder
Maggie specializes in bioengineering the intracellular proteomic environment. She received a BS in Chemistry and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley under the guidance of Dr. Michelle Chang where she investigated the transcriptomic and proteomic responses of lignin-degrading bacteria and novel biochemical mechanisms for the oxidation of lignin and lignin-like molecules. Her postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Jay Keasling centered on engineering bacteria to degrade chemical warfare agents.
