Elsa earned a BS in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology (while also pursuing a minor in History) from UC Santa Cruz. Prior to MicroByre, Elsa stumbled into the fascinating world of bacteria with her work in the Microbiome Discovery group at Corteva Agrisciences researching plant growth-promoting microbes. Elsa joined MicroByre’s Strain Engineering team as our very first Research Associate before stepping up to become our Laboratory Manager. In her free time Elsa likes reading, tending plants, buying books she doesn’t need, baking, petting cats, searching for Little Free Libraries, practicing mindfulness, and spending time with friends and family.
