We are thrilled to share some significant news about the expansion of our research capabilities. Our collection of tools has grown to include a number of state-of-the-art 2-liter bioreactors.

This new acquisition marks a vital step in our growth and commitment to building our microbial offerings. Experiments at the smaller scale are uniquely suited for rapid domestication and characterization, while the 2L vessels allow us to distinguish how the organism behaves in larger tanks with different conditions (e.g. foaming, shear stress). The ultimate goal is to have a bioprocess that is well characterized (meaning we know how the metabolism of the organism changes with different conditions) and can scale from smaller bench-top units to industrial-scale fermenters.

For those who are new to biotechnology, bioreactors are essentially fermentation tanks that allow us to grow and nurture cells under highly controlled environments. These variables include temperature, pH, oxygen levels, and many others, which are crucial in ensuring optimal growth and activity of our microorganisms across their lifespan.

MicroByre’s new bioreactors will enable us to enhance our productivity, improve quality control, and broaden our research and development. Moreover, having these tools in-house brings our design-build-test-learn cycle time down significantly, speeding up our R&D. Our ability to quickly run parallel experiments also accelerates the delivery of milestones to our stakeholders. These units are also connected to our network and feed live data into our bioinformatics platform, informing our scientists how to best tweak the conditions in the reactors to maximize titer or cell density.

Stay tuned to our blog for updates on the new and exciting developments that will result from our expanded fermentation capabilities. Here’s to a future of limitless possibilities in the realm of biomanufacturing! Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn Here!
